Dr. Maria Tsakiri is an academic collaborator (Critical Disability Studies & Inclusive Education) at the European University Cyprus, and the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. Maria is also a disability mentor at Glasgow Caledonian University. She holds degrees from the University of Stirling (PhD in Critical Disability Studies/Social Sciences), the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (MA in Education & Human Rights – Inclusive Education) and the University of Thessaly (BA in Special Education & Early Childhood Education). Additionally, Maria has completed professional training in assistive technology (University of Edinburgh) and in the education of children with visual disabilities (National & Kapodistrian University of Athens). Her current research interests lie in critical disability studies, disability activism, education, cultural representations, and film festivals. She actively involved in disability and feminist research networks that promote visibility, equity, and inclusion. Her publication record consists of articles in international peer-reviewed journals, book chapters in Greek and English, policy evaluation reports, and short articles on research blogs. Maria is also a jury member of the “Reflection of disability in art” Festival (Greece).
